Why commute time
Distance lies. Time doesn’t.
You work in Kendall Square and need to be in by 9. Two listings come up about three miles from the office. On a radius search they look the same. Door to door, one takes more than twice as long.

Three office days a week, and the gap is about 125 hours a year. Driving narrows it: 18 to 29 minutes from Davis, 17 to 35 from Brighton, depending on Storrow. CommuteFirst shows both, with how often each route has actually run on time.

Two-office mode
One house. Two commutes.
Most couples buying in Boston don’t work in the same place. Add both offices and the map keeps only the homes that work for both of you, with each person’s time on every pin and your combined hours per week underneath.

- Office B: Longwood Medical Area, 4 days a week

Questions
Where does the commute data come from?
Transit routes are built from MBTA schedules and real-time data for the subway, bus and commuter rail, plus walking paths to and from each stop. Driving times use historical traffic by day and hour. Listings come from MLS data for Greater Boston.
How accurate are the times?
Each time is door to door for the arrival time you set, including walks, waits and transfers. Every route also shows how often it ran on time over recent months, so a 30-minute trip that runs late twice a week looks different from one that doesn't.
Do you list rentals?
Not at launch. CommuteFirst starts with homes for sale. Rentals are on the list for later.
When is my city launching?
Greater Boston first. The next metro is picked by waitlist votes, so cast yours above. We’ll email you when your city is on the way.
How much will it cost?
Free during early access. If that changes, waitlist members hear about it first, well before anything is charged.
